Skiing in Herlikovice

December 2013 - January 2014
After all that eating at Christmas I was honestly relieved to spend some time doing physical activities and more importantly, skiing after a two-year-break. Besides, there's no better feeling than knowing that you have more than a week off ahead! I was full of anticipation.

Swinoujscie - Ahlbeck

On my last day in Swinoujscie I decided to cycle to the German border town - Ahlbeck. I rented a bike and I took a very nice bike & pedestrian path along the Baltic coast. The route is shaded most of the time and therefore it's pleasant and friendly for hurtling bikers on sunny and hot days.

The Polish coastal town of Swinoujscie

Swinoujscie is absolutely my number 1 among all Polish seaside towns. I realize I might be partial, but I guess it's always hard to be objective when it comes to our childhood memories. As a kid, I and my family spent there almost every summer. This place has always seemed special and different from other Polish coastal towns for many other reasons too.

We left Kronborg and set out for Copenhagen. It took us about an hour to get to the capital city. As the road ran along the coast, I couldn't help taking tons of pictures in spite of being a bit drowsy. Well, it paid off! I was about to turn off my camera and take a nap when at one moment, to my astonishment,  I caught a glimpse of ...

Hamlets Castle in Helsingor

This gorgeous castle on the Baltic sea is claimed by many to be one of the must-see spots in Denmark. Indeed, the place appeared exceedingly welcoming and joyful (as for a castle!) Surely, the weather played its role too. So, why is Kronborg castle also called Hamlets Castle?

Ferry crossing: Sweden - Denmark

Just look at these awesome Swedish cows! They're all white! :)

After an hour's drive by bus, we finally arrived in Helsingborg, Sweden's closest point to

On the way to Scandinavia

Friday morning. The weather seemed perfect and I felt so lucky and free again. I was heading to Swinoujscie - the Polish harbor at the Baltic sea, located on Wolin and Usedom islands, to get on a ferry to

Edinburgh: Calton Hill and the Royal Mile

We were thinking to visit Blackness Castle in the village of Blackness, but since we were on a budget, we all agreed to spend our last full day before our departure only in Edinburgh - the capital of Scotland.

Did you know that:

Tantallon Castle

I visited the castle 13 years ago and I must say it hasn't changed much since then ;-) This time, however, I had a whole lot more time at my disposal to relish this gorgeous place.

On the way to Tantallon Castle: North Berwick

Edinburgh Waverley station
Our journey started at Edinburgh Waverley station which looked really nice and neat despite being refurbished. We bought round-trip tickets at £6.80.
